Auction In Honour Of Late S.M.I.L.E. Participant Benefits S.M.I.L.E.

On May 18th, 2019, a pick-a-prize auction benefitting S.M.I.L.E. was held in honour of the late S.M.I.L.E. participant O'Neal Blackman, at the South Alton Community Centre in South Alton, NS. The auction raised an incredible $1260.80 for the program! Thank you to the Blackman family for your incredible generosity in organizing this auction and to the community of South Alton for your tremendous support of the event! 

 

2019 Wolfville Lights It Up Blue Charity BBQ Raises $3000 for S.M.I.L.E.!

On March 30th of this year, a charity BBQ and raffle auction was held at Clock Park in Wolfville in order to raise money for The Acadia S.M.I.L.E. Program and L'Arche Homefires. This event, spearheaded by S.M.I.L.E. participant Harrison Czapalay, was part of his larger 'Wolfville Lights It Up Blue' campaign in honour of World Autism Awareness Day. 

At our S.M.I.L.E. Appreciation Ceremony held on May 10th, Harrison presented us with a whopping $3000 cheque, based on the proceeds from his Charity BBQ! Thank you, Harrison for this contribution to S.M.I.L.E. and for being an incredible advocate for persons with autism everywhere!

 

2018/19 S.M.I.L.E. Appreciation Ceremony

On May 10th, 2019, we held our annual S.M.I.L.E. Appreciation Ceremony at the Festival Theatre in Wolfville, NS, which honoured all of our graduating volunteers. Read about the special awards that were given out at this event here!

 

S.M.I.L.E. Says Goodbye to 2018/19!

With our Final Friday Night S.M.I.L.E./S.M.I.L.E. for Adults session of this year tonight, S.M.I.L.E. has officially concluded for the 2018/19 Academic year. Thank you to all over our fantastic volunteers, wonderful participants, and everyone in our community who supported us throughout the year. You all helped make 2018/19 one to remember!

 

Fill Your Bellies with S.M.I.L.E. Saturdays at Wheelock Dining Hall

Chartwells is hosting S.M.I.L.E. Saturdays at Wheelock Dining Hall on campus!

What is S.M.I.L.E. Saturdays? Every Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm through the Winter semester, Chartwells will be charging only $8.26 (before tax) per meal, with $3.26 going directly back to The Acadia S.M.I.L.E. Program! Children under 12 will be able to eat for $6.52 (before tax), with $2.52 going back to S.M.I.L.E.!

Wheelock Dining Hall is always open to EVERYONE within the community, so come out this Saturday and every Saturday to come, to have a great meal and help support S.M.I.L.E.!

The Acadia S.M.I.L.E. (Sensory Motor Instructional Leadership Experience) Program is seeking more volunteers to join us during the Winter 2019 semester! If you would like to get involved as a new or returning instructor, please attend the The Acadia S.M.I.L.E. Program Call for Volunteers!!!

S.M.I.L.E. Cancelled on Thursday, November 22nd

With all schools in Kings County cancelled due to the wintry weather today, S.M.I.L.E. will be cancelled as well this morning. Mother Nature struck early this year!

 

No S.M.I.L.E. as Acadia Students Take a Study Break

There will be no S.M.I.L.E. program dates between November 9th and November 17th, due to the Remembrance Day holiday and the scheduled study days at Acadia University.

 

Axes in Action Charity Day Raises $6500 on Behalf of S.M.I.L.E. and L'Arche Homefires!

On the morning of Saturday, September 8th, Acadia Student volunteers traveled throughout The Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia in order to collect donations on behalf of The Acadia S.M.I.L.E. Program and L'Arche Homefires, as part of the Axes in Action Charity Day. The event raised approximately $6500 in total! Thank you to the Acadia University Student Government for organizing the event, to all of the students who volunteered their time in order to make it happen, and to everyone who supported S.M.I.L.E. and L'Arche Homefires with their donations. It is greatly appreciated!
