S.M.I.L.E. & N.S.T.U. "Work to Rule" Situation
The Nova Scotia Teachers Union is currently engaged in a "Work to Rule” labour situation with the Province of Nova Scotia. If students from within the provincial educational system were to participate in S.M.I.L.E. in our Tuesday and Thursday programs while Work to Rule is in effect, it would contravene the principles of this labour action. As a result of this, we will not be providing S.M.I.L.E. programming on Tuesdays and Thursdays this semester while the current labour situation between teachers and the provincial government remains in its current state. Friday Night S.M.I.L.E., S.M.I.L.E. for Adults and Saturday S.M.I.L.E. are not affected under these circumstances.
The first phase of the Snoezelen room was installed in July. The funding for the project was received from Sun Life, Tim Hortons smile cookie sales, the graduating Kinesiology Class of 2012, Mud Creek Rotary, Team Heidi and The Launchers Throwing club. Thank you to all who have contributed to the installation of the first phase. There are many other phases to complete in the Snoezelen Room. You can see the progress being made here!
